Final pair of Apaches to CSP

The final two Apaches (ZJ199 and ZJ209) for the Capability Sustainment Programme departed Wattisham by road today (21st July 2022) heading for Brize Norton. The have had high value components removed by 7 Btn REME at Wattisham, and these components will re-enter the supply chain to support the existing Apache fleet. Once these two airframes reach SES at Huntsville, Alabama, they will have some more structural items removed, for re-use in the AH-64E programme, and the old airframes will be disposed of. This will see the end of the CSP programme, as 50 old Apache AH1s will have been stripped of useful components and disposed of, leaving just 14 Apache AH1s in the active fleet.
