Maritime Role

A look at embarked operations and the additional requirements that this role demands.

Operation Cabrit

This is the UK contribution to NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in The Baltic States. Apaches deploy to the region to show support to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland.

Operation Ellamy

In 2011 the situation in Libya meant that military intervention was necessary to aid the civilian population. AAC Apaches operated from HMS Ocean in The Mediterranean Sea, and flew armed sorties against armoured vehicles, utilising a range of weapons.

Operation Herrick

This long-term operation (2002 until 2014) in Afghanistan saw the Apache squadrons repeatedly deploy in rotation to Kandahar/Camp Bastion supporting UK troops in the harshest of environments. The fleet racked up an impressive number of flying hours whilst deployed.
